End Of Year Reviews

A few pieces of quality advice that could save your business, starting with some key advice on tying the ribbon on 2019 with some key reviews.

This has been a year of tremendous change, growth and progress.

We want to extend another heartfelt thanks to you our clients, and treasured friends for joining us and continuing the journey to exemplify legal excellence, exonerate the innocent, and defend the truth in the face of injustice.

These days preceding the Christmas holiday we thought we would give you some gifts along the way to say thank you. Our first gift is one of information.

  1. Be sure to renew all forms and legal documents. The biggest mistakes on the corporate level have been made over arbitrary things, like not updating payment information for a web address that lapses or forgetting to change titles and duties when officers are promoted. Make sure your business information on your website is current. Incorrect information could cost you.

  2. Make sure your address is congruent across the internet. Along the same lines, it can create a difficult situation and lose business for your company quickly if on each website your company appears there is a different address. Consistency is key, and your visiting clientele will appreciate the ease of discovery.

  3. Review your contracts. You have standing agreements for your businesses but haven't checked on them in a while, and this is fine if there has been no change in the market. If you're not certain, however, that you're getting from your partnerships, contractor agreements, or exporting relationships, you should consider reevaluating your contracts with an attorney.

  4. Review your web and print content for errors and updates. Once the printing is done, and the copy is written, it's easy enough to completely forgo checking in on the information you've printed on your business cards, letterhead, and website, but this information is important as it speaks for you when you are not there. Consider reviewing and updating your web and print copy to create brand consistency.

  5. Update your applications for employment. If you were not already aware, a new law has been passed in the state of Illinois that prohibits employers from requesting the last rate of pay from all incoming employees. This means that your company is not allowed to know or base the future salary of any employee based on their previous earnings. Be sure to remove the question from your applications as keeping it could provide legal issues.
