Is the Amazon bubble bursting?
Amazon is under a careful microscope after an internal leak exposing that in two tests the conglomerate will have tapped out the United States’ hiring capacity by the year 2024. In addition to entirely running out of new stuff to hire in the next few years, they also have an over abundance of warehouses. What this means is they are starting to outsource those warehouses to other companies as well as request that more and more distributors hold their products inside of Amazon warehouses.
This subletting practice comes after a sweeping purchase of space to accommodate pandemic needs. The amount of space isn’t minuscule either. With over 10 million sq ft of warehouse real estate for lease Amazon is also considering breaking leases to liquidate the space.
While this is happening, the attrition rate for employment at Amazon has risen a whopping 36%. This is has for Amazon despite their constant reassurance in the wake of this news; but great news for anyone looking to do business with Amazon as deals are inevitable.
This unfortunate situation for Amazon presents a wonderful opportunity for expansion to any companies looking for new warehouse space in any cities Amazon has operated in as their availability should increase in the coming months.
