Trademark Changes Are Coming: Here's How You Can Weigh-In
You have an idea. Not just any idea…a GREAT idea. Worth protecting.
The way you protect your ideas is with Trademarks, Patents, Copyrights, and filed Trade Secrets. If your idea needs to be Trademarked, you may want to perk your ears up.
Recently, the USPTO has recently sent a press release notifying the public that there are new proposed fee changes coming to the Trademark Filing process.
What does this mean for me?
If your business, (or you as an individual), are filing for a Trademark, those fees could soon increase.
When will this proposed change occur?
The change is slated to occur next month (September, 2019).
Now, don’t get down just yet. The changes won’t be made until YOU get to weigh in.
What can I do?
You can request to testify at the official Trademark Public Advisory Committee public hearing on September 23, and you can submit a written comment directly to the USPTO.
If you’re requesting to be present and testify at the hearing, you will have to submit a request before September 16th. The hearing will be held on September 23rd.
If you’d just like to write, and weigh-in, you’ll have until September 30th.
We know this change may be jarring, and it will affect a lot of business owners, and intellectual property owners.
