International Branding: Why It's So Important
In the real business world, intellectual property is everywhere. People and businesses know what their brand is, but not always how to protect it in Cyberspace or internationally. A brand, which normally will be in the form of a logo, can be words or pictures in a certain font, color or color scheme. The brand associates the business with a feeling style or sound. It is used to make people who view, hear or smell it, feel or think a certain way about you and/or your business.
When your brand is registered, you own it for the most part. You can register it in a county, city or state, but your “ownership will be limited. If you register in the country it is still limited to that country. If you register in another geographical location, like a nation it is limited still to that nation. However, if you register it internationally there is a boost in the claim of ownership and it is yours in those countries (well as long as you pay timely)
TEIL is making a push in this season to have businesses brand internationally. The costs are not as expensive as you might think and the benefits are great! For one, if someone buys your brand-logo in another country and then you try to sell products under your logo in that nation or location you will be asked to cease and desist-but it is yours? Wrong, it used to be yours but someone beat you to it. What a great risk to take for a logo associated with you.
